GROW Milwaukee: Growth, Revitalization, Opportunity, Wellness.

GROW MKE is a youth-led community-based program in the Washington Park neighborhood, focused on gardening and education. Through donations, grants, and collaborations with local organizations, we've been working to revitalize the Bethune Community Garden on 35th and Galena St.

Current programming includes:

Young adult summer internship program
Neighborhood outreach efforts
Produce donations to United Methodist Children Services food pantry
Boys & Girls club "Dirt Warriors!"
Compost collection from Amaranth Bakery and Bus Stop Coffee Shop
Gardener mentorship

Future ideas include:

Rainwater Harvesting
Expansion to other Washington Park gardens
Neighborhood tool library

GROW Milwaukee is a Summer of Solutions program through the national organization, Grand Aspirations. Grand Aspirations supports a multitude of youth-led initiatives throughout the country that focus on sustainability and community-building. Through their horizontal leadership structure, all participants can influence the direction of the program and have the opportunity to see their ideas become a reality.
